Topic Description: Systems Engineering Definitions

Systems engineering is a multifaceted discipline, involving human, organizational, and technical variables that work together to create complex systems.  In this micro-course, the fundamental definitions of a systems and systems engineering are presented.  Systems engineering activities are introduced and related to lifecycle stages.

Learning Objectives:

At the end of this micro-course, students will be able to:

• Define the fundamental system concepts
• Define the role and activities of systems engineering
• Identify system lifecycle stages and approaches
• Identify the technical process activities to design and deliver a system
