Topic Description: Planning and the Systems Engineering Management Plan (SEMP)
The Systems Engineering Management Plan (SEMP) is a key work product for managing the systems engineering activities on a program. The multi-disciplinary planning activities to develop the SEMP define how systems engineering interfaces with other parts of the organization and the approaches and methods that will be used. In this micro-course, these planning activities are defined and elements of a SEMP are described,

At the end of this micro-course, students will be able to:
- Identify elements of cost, schedule, technical, and organizational planning
- Identify the planning activities necessary for effective systems engineering effort on a project
- Identify key areas that need to be addressed in a project Systems Engineering Management Plan
- Describe the principles of effective process tailoring
