Topic Description: Risk and Opportunity Management

Risk mitigation and opportunity capture is managed throughout the system lifecycle.  Mitigation plans reduce the likelihood that an adverse event will occur and/or the consequence resulting from the adverse event if it occurs.  Capture plans increase the likelihood and/or benefit of a potential positive event.  In this micro-course, risk and opportunity management terminology, process activities, and techniques are defined.

Learning Objectives:

At the end of this micro-course, students will be able to:

• Understand the concepts of risk and opportunity management
• Identify risks, issues, and opportunities
• Define techniques to assess and treat risks and opportunities
• Identify planning activities
• Define a high-level process for risk and opportunity management
