Full course description
Topic Description: System Modeling Basics
A model represents the system or part of the system and helps to capture and communicate the system design throughout the system lifecycle. In this micro-course, the fundamental definitions of a model, simulation, and Model Based Systems Engineering are presented. Modeling basics are introduced describing modeling methods to define the process during design, modeling languages with their symbols and rules, and modeling tools that enforce the languages to enable the processes..
Learning Objectives:
At the end of this micro-course, students will be able to:
-
- Identify the definition and concepts of a system model
- Define how modeling can benefit the systems engineering and the life cycle process
- Identify modeling methods that represent the process to implement models during design
- Identify modeling languages that provide the symbols and syntax to capture and communicate the design
- Identify how modeling tools enforce the languages to enable the processes
- Describe how modeling can facilitate and capture system designs
- Describe how modeling can be applied in concert with traditional systems engineering
This Micro-Course is apart of the Systems Awareness Digital Badge track and also the Systems Architecture Digital Badge track.
