Topic Description: Needs and Requirements Basics
During needs analysis, systems engineers solicit expectations from stakeholders that describe the delivered system as a set of lifecycle concepts. During requirements analysis, systems engineers translate these needs into formal requirements that describe what the system must do to meet the stakeholders' expectations. In this micro-course, fundamental definitions of needs and requirements are presented and characteristics of a good requirement are identified. Activities for needs analysis and requirements analysis are introduced.
