Full course description
Topic Description: Systems Thinking Basics
Systems thinking uses a holistic approach to analyze engineered systems in terms of structure, interactions, and behavior. This integrative approach allows us to understand the emergent properties of the whole system that cannot be described by studying individual parts. In this micro-course, systems thinking is defined and an approach to apply systems thinking is described.
Learning Objectives:
At the end of this micro-course, students will be able to:
- Identify system thinking definitions and concepts
- Define an approach to apply systems thinking to complex problems
- Identify system thinking tools and techniques
- Define the difference between systems thinking and linear thinking
- Describe how systems thinking can benefit system development
This Micro-Course is apart of the Systems Awareness Digital Badge track.
